Position Description

The Accounting Intern provides basic technical and administrative support to the Accounting, Tax & Business Advisory division, whilst learning the fundamentals of their profession. The key focus of this role is on developing technical expertise and growing capability.

Position requirements.

Qualifications, Education & Experience  

  • Completing Bachelor Degree in Business, Commerce or Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Client  

  • Develop strong client relationships and Role Model Behaviours, to facilitate a unique and successful client experience.
  • Liaise with and provide outstanding support and service to small clients of low complexity (as determined by Senior Manager, and aligned to the client segmentation approach).
  • Support retention of the Kearney Group's existing, long-standing and loyal client base, by providing outstanding service.

People  

  • Support a culture of teamwork, collaboration and selfless leadership.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in relevant training sessions, conferences, continuing education and professional accreditation programs.

Technical Excellence  

  • Develop technical skills and legislative understanding, through on-the-job learning, formal and informal training, and self-directed learning/study.
  • Prepare 'client-ready work' on assignments of low complexity.
  • Provide administrative support and contribute to the preparation of advice that meets client expectations, internal quality controls, industry regulations and best practice, and is delivered within budget/ timeframes.
  • Develop understanding of industry trends, diligently stay abreast of changes and support associated process and service offering adaptations.

Financial  

  • Complete work within budgets and timeframes.
  • Complete timesheet and submit daily, with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop understanding of the Client Value Equation, and seek opportunities to increase perceived value and/or decrease cost to serve.
  • Achieve goals assigned to you and assist others to achieve team budgets and targets.
  • Manage position responsibilities aligned to budget requirements (where applicable).

Practice Development  

  • Develop understanding of the Kearney Group's Integrated Advice service offering.
  • Support portions of programs/activities related to execution of the strategic business plan.
  • Manage personal workflow with a high level of transparency and personal accountability.
  • Begin cultivating professional networks.
  • Undertake ad-hoc responsibilities aligned to the position requirements, as required from time to time.
