The role
We’re looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer with some frontend Angular experience to join a well-funded category-defining technology startup. Candidates must be able to work in North/South America or Europe time zones but will be working remotely. Full-time commitment is required.
Expectations
As a full stack engineer, you will be the first permanent full-time engineer of an exciting new product. You will be a great fit for this team if you are excited for the following responsibilities:
Problem-Solving: Developing for business-critical problems that are open-ended and derived from requirements geared to customer delight and business success.
Critical Thinking: Digging into problem statements, exploring alternatives, and coming up with innovative ideas to approach the problem at hand.
Analytical Skills: Utilizing a methodical, repeatable approach to problem-solving, which relies heavily on data to develop intuition.
Delivery: Delivering what you promise. While no estimate is completely correct, clear communication of what will and what will not be done in a timely fashion is.
Keeping High Standards: In a startup environment, some shortcuts have to be taken, but we still need to adhere to high engineering standards for the good of our customers and our teams. Done means documented, tested, reviewed, merged, and demoed.
Requirements
- Previous startup experience
- Skilled in partnering with product to build new products and features from the ground up
- Significant experience with application performance tooling including tracing, root-causing, and proactive monitoring
- Skilled in troubleshooting complex production bugs, resolving them quickly, and developing ways to improve system stability in the future
- Experienced in architecting and developing scalable, fault-tolerant solutions for backend applications on cloud platforms
- Experienced in developing and maintaining automated tests, and comfortable working with modern CI/CD tools
- Strong asynchronous communication skills
- Experience with front-end development
- Experience with databases, data warehouses, and big data processing tools
- Comfortable working with large datasets from different database backends using SQL
- Comfortable working with SaaS platforms
- Background in developing custom proxies
- Experience with CDW (Cloud Data Warehouse) such as Snowflake, DataBricks, BigQuery or RedShift
- Strong desire to mentor others in engineering best practices, and lead their team into continuous improvement
