Sung Hwan (Joey) Chung has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Sung Hwan (Joey) is currently an Associate Scientist II at Kelonia Therapeutics since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Korro Bio, Inc. as an Associate Scientist from February 2022 to January 2023 and as a Research Associate from August 2021 to January 2022. Sung Hwan (Joey) also served as a Graduate Student at Albany Medical College from August 2019 to May 2021.

Sung Hwan's early professional experience includes their service in the Republic of Korea Air Force, where they worked as a Staff Sergeant from September 2012 to September 2014. During their time there, they collaborated with the U.S. Air Force Security Police Unit, ensuring the security and regulation of the Restricted Area at Osan Air Base. Sung Hwan (Joey) also acted as a translator within the Korea Air Force in the Air Police Unit.

Following that, from 2009 to 2012, Chung pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing/Management at the University at Albany, SUNY.
After a pause in their formal education, Chung returned to the University at Albany, SUNY in 2017 and completed a Second Bachelor's degree in Psychology between 2017 and 2018. Building upon this, they then enrolled at Albany Medical College in 2019 to pursue a Master of Science degree in Neuroscience, which they completed in 2021.
