SUMMARY

The Survey Technician will be in charge of creating high-quality and high-production Surveys for land development utilizing AutoCAD software. They will be responsible for working with a surveying team from initial concepts to final plan production.  They will also draft various sketches, plans, and exhibits using CAD as well as reviewing Title reports and plotting easements under minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare Topographic Surveys, ALTA Surveys and exhibits from Field Data Points.

  • Calculate accurate Easements and Boundary Lines from Record Maps and Grant Deed Descriptions and Title reports.

  • Review and understand Agreements, CC&R’s and other documents within Title reports.

  • Generate accurate Surfaces and Contours through AutoCAD.

  • Preparing drawings per company CAD standards.

  • Perform site field checks.

  • Perform property information research duties for record of surveys, tract maps, parcel maps, deeds, as‐built, etc., using internet and document search software.

  • Analyze field data & plot accurately onto a cad file (i.e. description codes, invert Dip sheets).

  • Ability to create a 3D model from a point cloud.

  • Adjust conventional and G.P.S. control networks.

  • Resolve boundaries using accepted boundary and legal principles and case, state and federal laws under supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION +  EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent years of experience in Land Surveying

  • 3+ years’ experience in Land Surveying

  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) California, preferred

  • General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet, Bluebeam, etc.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, required.

  • Experience with Trimble Business Center, required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of all types of utility plans

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting (up to 8 hours a day for office staff)

  • Interacting with technology (computer, cellphone, etc.)

  • Ability to lift and/or carry items ( up to 20 lbs.)

  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking (field checks)

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (field checks)

  • Occasional travel e.g. driving to offices, jobsites, client meetings, etc.
