Gregory Tsien

School Leader Manager at KIPP Northern California

Gregory Tsien has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Gregory started their career at Johnson & Johnson, where they worked as an Engineer II from August 2007 to November 2007 and as an Engineering I from August 2005 to August 2007.

In 2008, Gregory joined Barack Obama's Campaign for Change as a Community Organizer from June 2008 to November 2008.

Gregory then transitioned to the education sector, joining Teach for America at Ida B. Wells High School as a Teacher from July 2009 to July 2011.

Gregory continued their career in education at Uncommon Schools, where they served as an Instructional Leader and Math Teacher from July 2011 to June 2016. Gregory also held the positions of Principal Fellow and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction from August 2015 to June 2017.

Since 2017, Gregory has been working at KIPP Public Schools Northern California. Gregory started as an Associate Director of High School Academics from July 2017 to June 2018, and then became the Director of Academics from July 2018 to July 2021. Most recently, they have been in the role of Instructional Coach for Principals since July 2020, and is currently serving as a School Leader Manager from April 2022 onward.

Gregory Tsien completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University from 2001 to 2005. Gregory then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education from Relay School of Education between 2011 and 2013. Gregory furthered their education by attending Relay Graduate School of Education in 2015 and 2016, where they completed the National Principals Academy Fellowship in Education Leadership.
