Tamara Cheng

Tamara Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations. Tamara started their career at The Nature Conservancy in 2003 as a Stanback Intern in Government Relations. In 2006, they joined the Peace Corps as an Environment and Natural Resource Management Volunteer until 2008. In 2009, Tamara volunteered as a Fair Trade Intern at Global Exchange. Tamara then worked as a Graduate Assistant at Syracuse University's Maxwell School from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, they briefly served as a Communications Assistant at Tostan.

Tamara joined the University of California, San Francisco in 2012, where they held the roles of Research Services Coordinator until 2014 and Contracts & Grants Officer until 2016. From 2016 to 2022, they worked at the KIPP Foundation, starting as a Senior Federal Grants Administrator and eventually transitioning to roles such as Manager, Director, and ultimately, Senior Director/Vice President of Grants Management.

Tamara Cheng, MPA has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (International Relations) from Duke University, which they obtained from 2002 to 2006. Tamara then pursued a Master's degree in International Relations with a focus on Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from Syracuse University - Maxwell School from 2011 to 2012. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a specialization in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Syracuse University - Maxwell School from 2010 to 2011. Before their higher education, Tamara attended Cary Academy from 1998 to 2002.
