Mike Tran

Mike Tran has a diverse work experience in the field of design. Mike currently works at Klarna as a Design Lead, where they are responsible for the Activation & Retention Group. Prior to this, they were a Design Lead at Klarna for the Wishlists department.

Before Klarna, Mike worked at KOHO as a Lead Product Designer. In this role, they focused on providing Canadians with fair and transparent financial products. Mike was responsible for the monetization vertical and created multiple contribution margin positive products. Mike also led the design for new verticals and ensured alignment across teams.

Prior to KOHO, Mike was a Design Lead at Cover. Their work focused on growth design, specifically improving the mobile quoting experience and developing experimental web products to increase top-of-funnel performance. Mike also launched a web quoting experience to fuel market growth.

At Flipp, Mike served as a Product Design Lead, where they were responsible for the core app experience. Mike led a new vertical of commerce and shoppable content and managed a decentralized team of designers working on different products. Mike also launched the Flipp app, which introduced a new stream of revenue, and shaped scalable white-label experiences for retailers to improve monetization.

Mike's career began at Owl Practice, where they worked as a Product Designer. In this role, they launched a SaaS web app for mental health care practitioners. Mike focused on balancing the development of new features for retention and optimizing the conversion funnel to onboard clinics at a rapid pace.

Mike Tran studied at the University of Toronto from 2008 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication, Culture, and Information Technology. During the same period, they also completed a Certificate in Digital Communication at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
