Melissa May has a breadth of experience in communications and marketing roles throughout their career. MELISSA currently serves as the Director of Sponsorships & Branding Solutions at KLRN, where they are responsible for developing partnerships and promoting the brand. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant in communications, specializing in strategic communication planning and implementation. Melissa also served as the Director of Communications for Business Affairs at The University of Texas at San Antonio, overseeing various communication initiatives and managing a team. MELISSA has taught public relations and other communications classes as a Professor/Faculty Associate at Seton Hall University. Melissa has also held positions as a Communications Counselor/Consultant at Population Connection and Accordia Global Health Foundation, a Faculty member at the University of Maryland, and as the Vice President of Communications and Marketing at the American Health Assistance Foundation/BrightFocus Foundation. Earlier in their career, they worked as the Director of Communications at PATH--Global Campaign for Microbicides and as the Director of Public Information at the Population Council. Melissa May holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Public Relations from Purdue University. MELISSA later pursued their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Public Relations and Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communications and Marketing from the same university. Melissa also has knowledge and understanding of Mexican culture and Spanish, although it is not specified whether they obtained a degree in this field. In terms of certifications, they are a graduate/leader of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps from The Climate Reality Project, completed the Teaching Effectiveness Program at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, and is accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America. MELISSA also holds the CTM Competent Toastmaster qualification from Toastmasters International.
