William Dietz

Principal Engineer Emeritus at Kratos

William Dietz, P.E. has had a diverse and extensive work experience in various engineering roles. William began their career at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in 1975, where they served in entry-level to management level positions. At AEDC, they were involved in wind tunnel testing of new airframes, testing of jet and rocket engines, and testing of hypersonic configurations.

Following their time at AEDC, William worked at MicroCraft, Inc. as a Principal Engineer. There, they were responsible for computer code development under a major NASA program, and they co-authored the PEGASUS5 CFD code, which is still in use by NASA, the Department of Defense, and industry.

William then moved on to Flow Analysis, Inc., where they worked as a Principal Engineer. At Flow Analysis, they led a team of engineers and computer scientists, focusing on rotorcraft modeling and flow visualization for motion picture special effects.

In 2005, William joined Digital Fusion Solutions, Inc. (DFSI) as the Director of Aerosciences and Engineering Analysis. William oversaw engineering services at DFSI, which included a major presence at AMRDEC and NASA Marshall, as well as off-site customers like the Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Flight Center, and NAVAIR.

Most recently, William served as the VP of Advanced Technology at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions. In this role, they provided mission critical products and services for United States National Security priorities. William then transitioned to the role of Principal Engineer Emeritus, where they were retired but remained on call for proposal evaluations, mentoring, and consulting, while pursuing their personal interests in blues guitar and traveling.

William Dietz, P.E. holds an M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida, which they obtained from 1974 to 1975. William also has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, completed from 1970 to 1974. In addition, they hold a Professional Engineer certification from the Alabama State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, which they obtained in December 2011.
