Leena Mathew, CPA. MBA (She/Her)

Leena Mathew is an experienced professional with a diverse background in finance and accounting. Leena has served as the Vice President & Controller at LA28 since 2022. Prior to this, Leena worked at the University of Southern California (USC) from 2015 to 2022, where they held the position of Director of Finance & Controllership - Provost Shared Services. During their tenure at USC, Leena led a team responsible for managing financial activities across various divisions, including Information Technology, Libraries, Student Affairs, and more. Leena was instrumental in creating a Shared Service Center to streamline finance and controllership services.

Before joining USC, Leena worked at 21st Century Fox as a Director of Finance from 2013 to 2014. Leena then served as the Director of Accounting at The Walt Disney Studios from 2004 to 2013. In this role, Leena managed the Studio Controllership Theatrical Divisions, overseeing financial close activities, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.

Leena's career started at Sony Pictures Entertainment in 1999, where they held the position of Manager of Accounting - International Film Distribution until 2004. In this role, they managed finance and accounting functions for the division, focusing on monthly close activities, financial reporting, and budgeting. Leena also implemented financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and worked closely with the Corporate Tax department to identify tax planning opportunities.

Before their time at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Leena served as a Finance Manager at Sony, where they worked on consolidating the annual operating plans for all divisions and played a key role in re-engineering the Service & Engineering Division.

Leena began their career as an Auditor in the public sector, working at Silver, Gold, Glatt & Grosman, LLP from 1994 to 1996, and at Deloitte from 1990 to 1994.

Leena Mathew completed their education at the University of Toronto, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science & Commerce from 1986 to 1990. Later, they pursued further education at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, graduating with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Accounting between 1991 and 1994.

Leena Mathew also holds a certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), which they obtained in May 2005. This certification was granted by the California Board of Accountancy, and their license number is 91952.
