Melanie McConnell

Melanie McConnell has extensive experience in administrative and legislative services. Melanie started their career as a Municipal Intern at Athabasca County in 2006 and later worked as a Community Services Clerk and Legislative Services Coordinator at Lac La Biche County from 2008 to 2011. Melanie then moved on to the City of Camrose, where they served as a Legislative Services Coordinator for a brief period in 2011. McConnell returned to Lac La Biche County and held multiple positions, including Manager of Legislative Services, Senior Manager of Legislative and Information Services, and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer from 2011 to 2017. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Manager in Legislative and Information Services. Currently, McConnell holds the position of Associate Chief Administrative Officer, Corporate Services at Lac La Biche County, with prior experience as Acting Chief Administrative Officer from June to October 2023.

Melanie McConnell's education history includes several qualifications obtained from the University of Alberta and NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). In 2004, they completed a Diploma in Food and Nutrition Management from NAIT. Melanie later pursued further studies at the University of Alberta and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural/Food Business Management in 2006. Melanie continued their education at the University of Alberta by completing a Certificate in Local Government in Municipal Administration (NACLAA – Level I) in 2009. Melanie then earned a National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration – Level II in 2013, followed by an Applied Land Use Planning Certificate in the same year. Most recently, Melanie completed a degree in Municipal Management and Leadership from the University of Alberta in 2021.
