Andrew Bowman

Andrew Bowman has had an extensive and varied work experience. Andrew began their career as an Associate Attorney at Perkins Coie LLP in 1995. From 1998 to 2002, they served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court of Oregon. Andrew then joined Defenders of Wildlife in 2002 as a Private Lands Conservation Counsel. In 2005, they transitioned to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, where they held the position of Program Officer for the Environment until 2007. Andrew then became the Director of the Climate Change Initiative, managing a multi-million dollar grant-making program focused on low-carbon technology research, development, and demonstration. In 2010, Andrew assumed the role of Director of the Environment Program at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, overseeing a large grant-making program that supported wildlife habitat protection and efficient building environments. Finally, in 2016, they became the President and CEO of Land Trust Alliance, providing national leadership for a network of conservation organizations and advocating for increased funding for conservation. Throughout their career, Andrew has consistently demonstrated leadership and expertise in the field of environmental conservation.

Andrew Bowman completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley from 1987 to 1991. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1991 to 1995. Andrew then attended the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from 1992 to 1995. Additionally, Andrew completed an LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law at the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in 2002 and 2003.
