Shigeo Matsuda

Shigeo Matsuda has extensive work experience in the field of chemistry. Shigeo currently holds the position of Head of Chemistry at Laronde since August 2022. Prior to this, Matsuda worked at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals for 15 years, from September 2007 to July 2022, as an Associate Director. Before joining Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Matsuda worked at The Scripps Research Institute as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate from April 2001 to August 2007. Shigeo'swork at The Scripps Research Institute involved collaborating with Profs. Peter Schultz and Floyd Romesberg on expanding the genetic alphabet, resulting in the publication of 14 peer-reviewed research articles in top-ranked chemistry journals, including 11 papers in the Journal of American Chemical Society.

Shigeo Matsuda's education history begins in 1992 when they enrolled at Kyoto University and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Synthetic Chemistry. Shigeo completed their undergraduate studies in 1996. Following this, Matsuda joined The University of Tokyo in 1996 to pursue a Master's degree in Chemistry & Biotechnology, which they successfully completed in 1998. Afterwards, they returned to Kyoto University to further their education and obtain a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Synthetic Chemistry & Biological Chemistry, which they achieved in 2001.
