Charlie Thill

Charlie Thill has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity, data privacy, and intellectual property. Charlie is currently working as an Associate General Counsel at Las Vegas Sands Corp., specializing in cybersecurity, IP, and privacy. Before that, they served as an Associate General Counsel at GoFundMe, focusing on data security and privacy.

Charlie also has extensive experience at Splunk, where they held roles as a Senior Corporate In-House Counsel. Their responsibilities included data protection, operations, cybersecurity, and privacy. At Avanade, they worked as a Senior Counsel, primarily handling data privacy, information security, and regulatory compliance.

Prior to these roles, Charlie worked as a Consultant at Microsoft, specializing in privacy, data security, computer accessibility, risk management, and compliance. Charlie also served as Of Counsel at Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP, focusing on intellectual property and technology law.

Charlie's experience also includes working as a Director of Information Assurance and Risk Management at Pacific Energy Network, Inc. (PEN, Inc.). Additionally, they have worked as a Guest Lecturer at Lake Washington Institute of Technology and in licensing and contracts at Bitwise Legal.

Charlie Thill has a diverse education background. Charlie holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) degree in Intellectual Property Law and Policy from the University of Washington School of Law. Additionally, they have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with a concentration in International Law from the University at Buffalo School of Law. Charlie also obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Informatics from the University at Buffalo. Charlie has further expanded their knowledge in information systems assurance by earning a NSA Advanced Graduate Certificate in Information Assurance from the University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York. Furthermore, they graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University.

In terms of certifications, Charlie Thill is a California Registered In-House Counsel, obtained from the California Bar Association in November 2018. Charlie is also an Attorney registered with the Washington State Bar. Additionally, they hold certifications in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² and Security+ from CompTia.
