Rafael Nazario has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Rafael began their career as a Children's Book Illustrator at Mascot Books, where they illustrated books featuring NCAA mascots and independent authors. Nazario then worked as a Flash Animator at Flinch Studio and Style5.tv, honing their animation skills.
Rafael later joined Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico as an Animation Instructor, where they taught college students the fundamentals of traditional and digital animation. During their tenure, they increased the course output and initiated an after-school Digital Painting study group.
Nazario transitioned into the gaming industry and joined Primal Screen as an Artist. Here, they created illustrations and background art for Facebook games like Dungeon Rampage! and animated segments for PBS's The Electric Company. Rafael also developed UI art for The Electric Company's official website.
Rafael'snext move was to SG Interactive as a Senior Artist. In this role, Nazario supported the Product Manager in a major update of the Gold Fish Casino Slots game, optimizing the production pipeline and increasing art output. Rafael also designed UI art for both web and mobile versions of the game.
Nazario then joined PLAYSTUDIOS, initially working as a Marketing Artist, creating static images and logos for advertising the myKonami Slots app. Rafael later became a Production Artist, where they made significant contributions to the Unity pipeline, improving efficiency and saving production time. Rafael also trained outsourced artists and built and animated stores and live events for the app.
Most recently, Nazario joined Las Vegas Sands Corp. as a Senior UX Motion Designer.
Rafael Nazario completed their education at the Savannah College of Art and Design. From 2003 to 2006, they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Sequential Art. Subsequently, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Animation from the same institution from 2006 to 2008.
Furthermore, Rafael has also obtained a certification in Freelance Website Development from Codecademy in September 2017.
