Éric Desfonds

Éric Desfonds has extensive work experience in the field of photonics and technology. Éric is currently working as the Director of Product Management (PLDs & Silicon APDs) at LASER COMPONENTS. Éric joined the company in 2022 and is responsible for overseeing product management in the field of photonic detectors.

Prior to their current role, Éric worked at Nüvü Caméras Inc. as a Member of the Board of Advisors starting in 2022. Éric provides guidance and expertise in the field of cameras.

From 2010 to 2022, Éric worked at Excelitas Technologies Corp. where they held various roles. Éric started as a Senior Applications Engineer in the Defense and Aerospace Division, responsible for technical support and cost evaluation. Later, they became the Senior Product Line Manager for the Sensors - Defense and Aerospace Division, overseeing financial, productivity, quality, and technical customer support objectives.

Éric also served as a Board of Directors Member at Optonique from 2018 to 2021 and as an Advisory Board Member at Insight Photonic Solutions from 2011 to 2018. At Cyrium Technologies Inc., they held the positions of Production Planning Manager and Research and Development Engineer from 2005 to 2010.

At MetroPhotonics Inc., Éric worked as a Senior Test and Application Engineer/Project Manager from 2000 to 2005, responsible for the development and maintenance of characterization stations for photonic integrated circuits. Éric also worked briefly as a Research Engineer at the Communications Research Centre in 2000.

Overall, Éric Desfonds has demonstrated expertise and leadership in product management, technical support, cost evaluation, and development in the photonics industry.

Éric Desfonds completed their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa between 1996 and 1999. Éric then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the same university, completing it from 2000 to 2004.

In 2005, Éric Desfonds received the title of "Ingénieur" from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, although the month of obtaining this certification is unknown.

Later, in the years 2015 to 2017, Éric Desfonds enrolled in a Microprogramme de 2e cycle en gestion de l'ingénierie (Second Cycle Microprogram in Engineering Management) at the Université de Sherbrooke.
