Shlomo Goren has a long and varied work experience, starting in 1996 when they were an Editor for the Or Etzion Torah Institute. In 2001, they worked on two undergraduate research projects, one in bioinformatics and one on the size of neural-root dorsal ganglia in chick embryos. From 2002 to 2005, they were a Graduate Student at the Weizmann Institute of Science. From 2005 to 2006, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at the Hebrew University, researching molecular biology in C. elegans nematodes. In 2013, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Volcani Institute, where they analyzed sequence-based phylogeny of ~10 citrus strains. From 2014 to 2022, they worked at Evogene, first as an IP associate, then as a Crop Research Leader, and finally as a Crop Researcher. Since 2022, they have been a Research Leader at Lavie Bio.

Shlomo Goren's education history consists of five distinct experiences. Shlomo first attended Yeshivat Or Etzion from 1993 to 1999, where they studied Talmudical studies. From 2000 to 2002, they attended Bar-Ilan University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology (major) & Computer Science (minor). Shlomo then attended the Weizmann Institute of Science from 2002 to 2005, where they earned an MSc in Biology. From 2006 to 2013, they attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, where they earned a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology. In 2018, they attended the same university for IP Business Development.
