Dr Rob Malkin

Dr Rob Malkin has a diverse work experience in the field of research and engineering. Dr Rob is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Ultraleap since 2019. In this role, they are responsible for managing a team of academic and industrial researchers, facilitating research, managing research budgets, and setting company-wide research direction.

Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol from 2015 to 2019. In this role, they managed the development of ultrasonic techniques for imaging and characterization, including projects related to nuclear fuel debris imaging and mapping at the Fukushima Daiichi.

Dr Malkin also served as a Senior Engineer at Ultrahaptics from 2018 to 2019, where their research focused on acoustics, particularly in array optimization and design, numerical modeling of acoustic fields, and collaboration with the sound and vibration group.

Furthermore, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Bristol from 2012 to 2014, where they conducted finite element modeling and vibration analysis of acoustic transducers, as well as non-contact sound field mapping.

Dr. Rob Malkin received a B.Sc. [Hons] degree in Physics from the University of Nottingham in 2008. Dr Rob later obtained their PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol in 2011.
