Alan Zhao

Alan Zhao has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Alan is currently working at Level as a Data Scientist Lead, where they are responsible for overseeing transaction data for the company, including risk ML, executive-level reporting, and operational analytics. Prior to Level, Alan worked at Toast, where they held various positions including Engineering Manager, Data Science, Staff Data Scientist, Team Lead, and Senior Data Scientist. In these roles, they played a key role in integrating data science across the company, developing algorithms for credit card fee prediction, and leading the development of Toast Capital, the company's first production machine learning solution. Before Toast, Alan worked as an MBA Intern at athenahealth, where they focused on leveraging marketing interaction data for the organization's enterprise sales strategy. Alan also has experience at The Achievement Network as a Senior Analyst and Analyst, where they led projects to redesign data infrastructure and increase the capacity of internal systems. Additionally, Alan has worked as a Data Consultant at YMCA of the USA, as an Americorps Volunteer at New Sector Alliance, and as a Senior Producer and Journalist at War News Radio. Alan also gained legal experience as a Legal Advocate Intern at The Bar Association of San Francisco. Alan Zhao completed their Bachelor's degree in Economics and History from Swarthmore College, where they attended from 2008 to 2012. Alan then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Yale School of Management, where they studied from 2016 to 2018.
