Alastair Shaw has a range of experience in the hospitality industry, with a focus on management and operations. Alastair currently works as the Assistant Director of Operations at Levy Restaurants since June 2023. Prior to this, they held the role of Premium Manager, Catering at Compass Group Canada from June 2021 to September 2022. During their time at Compass Group Canada, they oversaw high-profile operations and events, such as the IIHF World Juniors Tournament and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Before joining Compass Group Canada, Alastair worked as a Premium Assistant Manager at Aramark from September 2018 to June 2021. Alastair was responsible for overseeing a team of 125+ employees and managing various premium areas. Additionally, they worked closely with high-profile guests and clients, handled recruitment and onboarding, and contributed to menu development.
Prior to their role at Aramark, Alastair served as the General Manager at Yummy Pub Co. from July 2017 to July 2018. In this position, they managed a team of 20+ employees and multiple sites. Alastair was responsible for recruitment, scheduling, and achieving weekly targets in line with budgets and forecasts.
Alastair also gained experience as a Sportsnet Club Supervisor at Aramark from September 2016 to July 2017 and as a Store Manager at Tailz from June 2016 to May 2017.
Earlier in their career, they held the position of General Manager at Yummy Pub Co. from August 2012 to February 2014. During this time, they managed a team of 25+ employees, exceeded company goals, and maintained relationships with craft breweries.
Alastair Shaw attended the University of Gloucestershire from 2008 to 2012, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Tourism Management. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications. In 2021, they earned a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification from the Six Sigma Global Institute. Alastair also obtained certifications in Food Handler Cert. Advanced FST from TrainCan, Inc., ProServe from AGLC, Respect and Inclusion in the Workplace from TrainCan, Inc., and Indigenous Canada from Coursera, all in the year 2021.
