Leslie Stevens has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Leslie began their career as an Associate Attorney at Harrang Long Gary Rudnick P.C. in 1994 and worked there until 1997. Following that, they served as the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Salem, providing general counsel to multiple municipal departments. In 2005, they became the Director of Independent Police Review for the City of Portland, leading a team responsible for investigating citizen complaints against the police. Leslie then joined the Portland Police Bureau as the Director of the Office of Accountability and Professional Standards, where they managed internal affairs and professional standards divisions. Finally, since 2010, Leslie has been the Vice President Legal at Lexipol, leading a team of attorneys in researching and developing risk management policies for public safety agencies.

Leslie Stevens obtained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Lewis & Clark Law School, where they attended from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Organizational Communication and Business from California State University, Chico, graduating in 1987 after four years of study.
