Position Description

Lifewise is an innovative organisation working together with marginalised people to create better services and solutions to enable their full participation and ability to thrive.  

The Practice Lead plays an important role in advancing the practice knowledge and experience of practitioners to enhance the overall functioning and development of Lifewise, working alongside practitioners, leaders and directly with whānau (service users), while building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of external parties. The role provides the practice leadership across Lifewise services (early childhood education, homelessness and housing, whānau/family, health and disability, residential addiction) to ensure high quality practice and service excellence.

WHO YOU REPORT TO

  • You report to the Practice and Development Manager, Lifewise.

  • Nil

WHAT YOU’RE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Provide quality practice leadership to Lifewise services, supporting leaders, practitioners and whānau in the pursuit of wellbeing.
  • Ensure that a high level of practice performance and professional standards of practice are maintained.
  • Ensure a strong practice and clinical governance framework is embedded to identify and manage risk and continuously improve the quality of the service provided by Lifewise.
  • Be available to Lifewise staff and sector members for consultation and liaison on practice and clinical matters and contribute to relevant policy development.
  • Develop training programmes for Lifewise staff and those with whom they interface.
  • Attend external clinical supervision and engage in professional development to meet your own professional requirements.
  • Ensure knowledge is up to date and relevant, and that this is backed up by relevant research and through engagement in relevant external networks.
  • Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to the application of the articles of Te Tiriti in the context of Lifewise.
  • Foster and support commitment to achieving the highest level of health and safety, including identification, and reporting of all hazards, assistance in resolving issues that may cause harm to staff, and always working safely.

WHAT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU NEED

  • Experienced registered health/social/education practitioner with experience in a range of services aligned to Lifewise.
  • Experience in leading practice and clinical, professional, and service delivery improvements.
  • Current annual practicing certificate and professional development history, as appropriate to discipline.
  • Ability to work with and influence a wide range of diverse individuals and groups toward quality improvement goals.
  • Clear and effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience in high-pressure or crisis situations, maintaining own wellbeing.
  • Strong training, development, and coaching experience.
  • Ability to engage in tikanga based and Tiriti informed practice and leadership.
  • Ability to deputise for the Manager Practice and Development as required.
