About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

Housing first is an exciting collaborative programme that provides housing and wrap around supports to people experiencing chronic homelessness in the Rotorua Region area.

We are looking for a full-time Property Manager who can join our Auckland Team and share our passion for ending homelessness. Property management experience is preferred but not required. If you have a social conscience, resilience as part of your DNA and want to make a real difference then this is the place to be! Team support like no other.

Duties | Mahi

As the Property Manager, you will have a key role within a multi-disciplinary Housing First (HF) Team with the following responsibilities:

  • Managing tenancies for people who are experiencing chronic homelessness
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, such as landlords, building managers and property managers
  • Providing a variety of office and field related activities to manage and monitor tenancies including liaising with managing agents and tenants
  • Working with the social support team to support people in sustaining their tenancies

The successful candidate is also expected to maintain consistent communication channels with property owners/building managers/managing agents/tenants/industry contacts, HUD/MSD and other collaborating agencies. We will support you to build a good understanding of tenancy agreements and the administrative work required in tenancy management as well as the capacity to work effectively alongside people with co-existing mental health and addiction issues and those who have experienced homelessness, to achieve their goals.

Skills and Qualifications | Pukenga & Wheako

  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and sensitivity to persons with experience of chronic homelessness
  • Strong relationship building, communication and persuasive skills and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Able to work effectively alongside people with co-existing mental health and addiction issues and who have experienced homelessness to achieve their goals.
  • Understand the Treaty of Waitangi and be committed to the principles of Housing First.
  • A current driver license
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to meet a demanding workload, leveraging creativity and innovation
  • Have an eye for detail
  • Be resilient
