David Simmons

Principal Engineer at Linden Lab

David Simmons has worked in the tech industry since 1983. David began their career at NJS Corporation as a Computer Design Engineer, where they designed black-box computers and did assembler programming. In 1985, they moved to Ashton-Tate as the Asia Development Center Manager. From 1991-1993, they worked as a consultant for a variety of companies, specializing in Asian market localization technology and FORTH programming. In 1993, they joined Adobe as a Senior Computer Scientist and worked on Flash Player and Flash Media Server technology. In 2005, Adobe acquired Macromedia and David was promoted to Principal Engineer, working on multiple products. In 2007, they moved to Linden Lab as Director of Engineering and then Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on Second Life. David was later promoted to Senior Architect.

David Simmons attended Brown University from 1979 to 1983, where they earned a ScB in Electrical Engineering.
