Dr. Riga has over 20 years of experience conducting and directing global scientific research programs related to the control and eradication of plant parasitic nematodes, associated plant pathogens and insects. Using applied research originating at the laboratory level and ending at the field level, she specializes in solving problems at the crop production level with emphasis on the development of sustainable pesticides for controlling economically important plant parasitic nematodes, plant pathogens and insects in vegetable crops, tree fruits and small berry fruit crops; as well as evaluating the impact of sustainable pesticides on non-target invertebrates.

With over 50+ professional refereed articles, 150+ conference, seminar and workshop presentations, numerous University and Extension articles, proceedings, and web pages, Dr. Riga has earned an international reputation as an experienced and valued lecturer, technical trainer, and knowledgeable peer mentor and evaluator in her field of expertise.
