Wind Asset Manager (Technical) 

Remote or Hybrid working (Stockbridge, Edinburgh). 

Excellent & negotiable salary, dependent on experience. 

Locogen are looking for an experienced, technically minded Wind Asset Manager to join our innovative, renewable energy company.

We have grown significantly over the last few years, both in the size of our team and the scale and scope of the projects we engage in. Our work is innovative and varied including utility scale projects, industrial behind-the-meter systems and community scale schemes.  

We cover Wind, Solar PV, Renewable Heat, Battery Storage (BESS) and Hydrogen.   

We have big ambitions for the next few years, and we need a new Asset Manager to help us achieve these.  

About our Technical Wind Asset Manager role: 

You will be working in a small Asset Management team looking after our clients’ wind portfolios and some of our own assets. You will proactively manage wind assets ensuring they operate effectively and efficiently whilst maximising our clients’ profits.

We are ideally looking for someone who has technical ability across turbines, components and layouts who is comfortable working with clients and stakeholders.  This might suit someone from an O&M background or someone doing a similar role at the moment.  

Key duties and accountabilities of our position: 

  • Take a leading technical role in the performance analysis and operational management of renewable energy assets.

  • Responsible for: SCADA and performance monitoring; reporting; regular site inspections; managing O&M providers; responding to faults and complaints; managing operational contracts; and providing operation control according to industry best practice standards.

  • Provide guidance to the AM team members and technical support to clients and contractors.

  • Review and assess the performance of assets, identifying root causes of potential underperformance and recommending cost effective solutions.

  • Lead in the development of innovative technical solutions to improve performance from operational assets to exceed our clients’ expectations.

  • Maintain the highest levels of health and safety standards within the team and across our operational assets.

  • Act as the main point of contact for key stakeholders (clients, contractors, landowners, local authorities, utility representatives and residents) for the assets that you manage and support the team with the assets they manage (where required).

  • Act on behalf of key clients and portfolios; providing oversight as to project and commercial performance. Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to external stakeholders.

  • Manage successful onboarding with existing and new clients and maintain in-depth knowledge of client operations and requirements.

  • Provide appropriate finance and accounting support to the HoD, Commercial AM and Financial Analyst in ensuring the commercial success and profitability of the division.

The experience that we are looking for someone to have: 

  • Asset management experience in the renewable energy sector, with a speciality in wind asset management.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrable experience of wind plant performance analysis.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a deep understanding of the commercial terms of renewable energy asset contracts, including PPAs, EPC contracts, warranties, performance guarantees, etc.
  • Appropriate health and safety certification (e.g. CITB, SMSTS, Working at heights, etc).
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and data interfaces.
  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an engineering related subject.
