Carlos Cruz-Teran

Dr. Carlos Cruz-Teran is a Development Scientist at Locus Biosciences. Carlos received their PhD in Molecular

Biology from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2021. Their dissertation research focused on the development

of technologies for gene delivery into commensal bacteria. Prior to their current position, they were a

Postdoctoral Researcher at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy from 2017-2021, where they worked on engineering

bispecific proteins for retargeting of adeno-associated viruses. From 2015-2017, they were a Graduate

Teaching Assistant in Yeast Metabolic Engineering at North Carolina State University. Dr. Cruz-Teran's

research interests include genetic manipulation of lytic and temperate bacteriophages, CRISPR, artificial

chromosome assembly, in vivo delivery of bacteriophages, and protein engineering of antibodies.
