Lead Process Engineer at Loop Industries

Mathieu Leduc, ing. P.eng. Ph.D has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Mathieu is currently working at Loop Industries as a Lead Process Engineer, where they have been since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Process Engineer at Loop Industries starting from 2020.

Before joining Loop Industries, Mathieu was associated with GCM Consultants from 2011 to 2020. During their time there, they held various roles, including Assistant Manager - Process Engineering - Major Projects and Process Engineer. In these roles, they led major projects such as the replacement of a debutaniser and the associated overhead drum at Suncor Montréal, as well as being the process lead for the OSBL section of a 3 million metric ton/year methanol plant for Nauticol Energy Ltd.

Mathieu's work experience also includes their time at McGill University, where they served as a PhD Candidate from 2007 to 2011. Mathieu conducted research on the effects of non-thermal plasmas on mammalian cells under the supervision of Prof. Sylvain Coulombe and Prof. Richard Leask. Additionally, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at McGill University from 2008 to 2010.

Before their academic pursuits, Mathieu worked as an Engineer at Laboratoire Riva Inc. from 2005 to 2007, where they managed engineering projects, supervised mechanics, and maintained HVAC and purified water systems. Mathieu also worked as a Junior Engineer at SNC Lavalin Pharma from 2003 to 2004.

Mathieu's early career includes experience as a Student Researcher at the Master's Level at École Polytechnique de Montréal from 2001 to 2004. During this time, they optimized a metabolic model of hairy roots culture under the supervision of Prof. Mario Jolicoeur and Prof. Michel Perrier. Mathieu also worked as a Teaching Assistant during their time at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Mathieu also gained experience as a Student in the lab for the production of proteins at Merck Frosst in 2002.

In addition to these experiences, Mathieu had short-term trainee positions at Pharmascience in 2000 and DSM Biologics in 1999.

Mathieu Leduc earned a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from McGill University, where they studied from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, which they obtained between 2001 and 2004. In addition to their academic degrees, Mathieu also obtained certifications in "Pressure Relieving Systems based on API RP 520/521" from Equity Engineering Group in March 2013 and "H2S Alive" from Enform in October 2013.
