Michael Harris is an experienced professional with a diverse background in workforce development and legal representation. Currently serving as the Compliance Director at the Louisiana Workforce Commission since September 2005, Harris oversees accountability for public funds within programs exceeding $170 million annually. Previously, as the Workforce Development Director, responsibilities involved managing the Incumbent Worker Training Program and supervising thirty-five employees. Prior experience at the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals spanned from 1989 to 2005, where Harris functioned as an attorney, providing legal representation for the department and overseeing a Medicaid third-party liability recovery budget of $4 billion. Harris holds a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge.
