Michael Axelson

Michael Axelson has extensive work experience in the field of oncology. Michael is currently serving as the VP of Clinical Development at Loxo Oncology at Lilly since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Clinical Research at Tempus, Inc. from July 2019 to February 2021. Before joining Tempus, Inc., they held several leadership positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb, including Head of Oncology Medical Affairs, Head of Oncology in Japan Medical & Development, and Group Director of the Joint Development Team. Michael also worked as a Physician at Oncology Specialist of Charlotte and as a Consultant at PERI. In addition, they served as a Medical Officer at the FDA and completed their Fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas after their residency at the University of Texas Southwestern.

Michael Axelson completed their undergraduate education at the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1998, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Michael then went on to attend the University of Michigan Medical School from 1999 to 2003, obtaining a Doctor of Medicine degree.
