Valentyna Akulova

Valentyna Akulova has a diverse work experience that spans various roles in software development and UX design. Valentyna began their career at the University of Regina as a Research Assistant, where they conducted experiments and performed growth experiments with different microbial strains. After that, they worked at the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory as a Research Assistant, where they tested mosquitoes for West Nile Virus and sequenced MRSA strains.

Valentyna then transitioned into the tech industry, joining iQmetrix as a Software Developer for a short period. Valentyna later joined Cova Software as a Software Developer in Test and QA Analyst, where they focused on software quality assurance.

Valentyna's passion for UX design led their to roles at unTribe and memoryKPR as a Front End Designer & Developer and UX Designer respectively. At unTribe, they developed a design system based on React's Material UI components and designed a landing page for one of the products.

Most recently, Valentyna worked at Live in Peace as a Software Developer & UX Designer. Valentyna was responsible for creating and maintaining a design system, collaborating with the team to design and prototype the web application, and developing the web app using technologies such as React.js, TypeScript, and Next.js.

Currently, Valentyna Akulova is working as a UX Designer at Lumeca Health since May 2022.

Valentyna Akulova pursued their education at the University of Regina, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2016. Valentyna then continued their studies at the same university, completing a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science in 2018. Additionally, they obtained a UX Certificate with an Interaction Design Specialty from the Nielsen Norman Group in December 2020.
