Senior Engagement Manager at Lyfta

Matthew Smitheman is currently the Senior Engagement Manager at Lyfta. Prior to this, they were the Digital Manager at NatCen Social Research from October 2018 to May 2019. In this role, they were responsible for producing digital content that reflected and developed NatCen's brand identity. This involved working with researchers and communications specialists to drive a steady flow of engaging and relevant multi-media content, such as infographics, charts, animations, and videos. Matthew also ensured that NatCen's external website and other project microsites were kept up to date, applying SEO principles and uploading content via a CMS.

From December 2012 to October 2018, Matthew was the Content Manager at SSAT. In this role, they were responsible for managing all aspects of SSAT's content, including developing strategy, commissioning articles, editing copy, and overseeing production. Matthew also liaised with SSAT's partners to ensure that their content was aligned with SSAT's brand identity.

Before joining SSAT, Matthew was a Senior Mentor at The Challenge from July 2012 to September 2014. In this role, they worked with young people aged 13-19 from disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting them to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in education and employment.

Matthew began their career as a secondary school teacher in December 2010, working in schools across the West Midlands. Matthew taught a range of subjects including English, Maths, and Science.

Matthew Smitheman has a postgraduate certificate in Educational Studies from the University of Birmingham, a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Leeds, and certification from Media Training Ltd in Adobe Premiere CC: Introduction, from London College of Communication in Content Marketing, and from SPOCE Project Management Ltd. in PRINCE2 Foundation.
