Nicholas Ohler

Chief Technology Officer at Lygos

Dr. Ohler is responsible for process development and manufacturing activities at Lygos. He supervises the development and scale-up efforts of the fermentation, downstream processing, and analytical departments. His team has successfully produced tons quantities of high-purity malonate esters using processes representative of those intended for economical high-volume manufacturing. Dr. Ohler received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley and he brings 15 years of experience in applied research, development, and manufacturing. Before joining Lygos, he led process development and scale-up activities at Evolva, Bio-Architecture Lab, and Amyris, to produce a wide range of biological products including farnesene and its derivatives, seaweed-derived ethanol, resveratrol, and nootkatone.
