Rebecca Lennen

Director of Strain Engineering at Lygos

Rebecca Lennen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Rebecca is currently working at Lygos as the Director of Strain Engineering. Prior to this, they were a Principal Scientist at Recombia Biosciences. Rebecca has also held roles at Lygos as a Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist. At Zymergen, Inc., they served as a Scientist III, where they were responsible for technical scoping and project management. Before that, they worked at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability as a Senior Researcher, Research Scientist, and Postdoc. Rebecca's earlier experience includes their role as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Biochemistry Intern at Genencor, A Danisco Division, and a Chemical Engineer at the Army Research Laboratory and Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division.

Rebecca Lennen has a strong educational background in Chemical Engineering. Rebecca began their academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County between 1997 and 2001. Rebecca then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where they enrolled from 2003 to 2007. Their dedication to learning led their to join the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2007 to 2012, where they successfully earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
