Benjamin Roorda, P.E.

Benjamin Roorda, P.E. has a wealth of engineering experience, beginning with Engineering Co-op positions at Florida Power & Light and General Electric Energy in 2000 and 2002, respectively. In 2009, they became the Business Owner of Florida Re Power, LLC. From 2012 to 2013, they were the Design Engineer at Tao, Sustainable Energy Solutions, where they were responsible for the development of an Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) compressor and managed the upgrade process for an existing set of compressor blades. From 2013 to 2018, they were the Utility Design Engineer IV at Gainesville Regional Utilities, where they provided project and outage support to all of GRU's electrical power generating assets. In 2018, they became the Owner of Hephestus Works LLC, providing custom system solutions to clients utilizing a streamlined development process. In 2021, they became the VP of Data Science and Engineering at M42com, a Software as a Service (Saas) platform that empowers its users through specialized AI and ML technology.

Benjamin Roorda obtained a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2003. Benjamin attended The Kings Academy from 1985 to 1998. In 2010, they obtained a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the State of Florida.
