Leah Wicander is an experienced educator and aquatics specialist with a strong background in both aquatic program management and language instruction. Currently serving as the Aquatics Specialist at Madison School & Community Recreation since February 2019, Leah oversees a robust youth aquatics program that benefits over 4,000 swimmers annually, holding multiple Red Cross certifications. Previous roles include a Dual Language Immersion Teacher at Sennett Middle School and various teaching assistant positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Michigan State University, focusing on Spanish language instruction and cultural studies. Leah earned a M.A. in Applied Spanish Linguistics from Michigan State University and a B.A. in Secondary Education, specializing in Spanish and German, from Hope College.
