Kathleen Chu

Community Lead, Japan at MakerDAO

Kathleen Chu is the current Community Lead for Japan at MakerDAO. Kathleen has been with the company since March 2019 and in their current role, they are responsible for promoting and explaining MakerDAO's products and services to the Japanese market.

Prior to joining MakerDAO, Chu was the Digital Content, PR and Marketing Lead at blockhive OÜ where they were in charge of promoting a new crowdfunding method and cryptocurrency wallet. Her responsibilities included budgeting, digital marketing using social media and SEO, content creation, investor relations, community management, and business development. Chu also attended blockchain conferences and meetups around the world and spoke at some of them.

Before their time at blockhive, Chu worked as an Investing Reporter for Bloomberg LP from January 2005 to September 2017. In this role, they were responsible for covering the mutual fund industry and writing stories about investing trends and news. Prior to that, they were a Multimedia Producer for Bloomberg from January 1999 to December 2004. In this role, they produced audio and video content for the Bloomberg Terminal.

Chu began their career in finance as a Mutual Fund Accountant for Dreyfus from January 1998 to December 1999. In this role, they were responsible for reconciling mutual fund portfolios and preparing financial reports.

Kathleen Chu studied accounting and finance at Baruch College, where they earned their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Kathleen also holds a certification from the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (Level 2).

Their manager is Rune Christensen, CEO. They work with Adrian Le Bas - Head of Developer Experience, Soren Peter Nielsen - Head of Product, and Jacek Czarnecki - Global Legal Counsel.
