Join the Mako Application Support Team team which is responsible for managing the in-house derivatives trading system.

The Trading Application Support Engineer will be an addition to an expanding team who manage all development, maintenance and support of Mako’s technical systems. The team works in a dynamic environment whilst providing both 1st and 2nd level support to the trading floor, investigating issues, writing scripts and implementing processes to improve the front office system.

What you’ll be involved in:

  • Ensure the smooth running of Mako’s production systems.
  • Update and configure trading applications.
  • Maintain and tune Mako’s trading system and hardware to obtain optimal performance.
  • Identify and report bugs in the system and take responsibility for the resolution cycle.
  • Investigate new/existing reported issues, attempting to understand and reproduce them to diagnose and find acceptable solutions or workarounds.
  • Provide L1 and L2 production support and technical support to the trading floor.
  • Develop tools to automate the monitoring/analysis of system performance and support tasks.
  • Develop processes and tools to manage application configuration, code deployment and testing.

  • A strong interest in the trading industry.
  • Previous experience in software development, DevOps or systems administration is highly advantageous.
  • Coding ability (e.g. C++, Python, Matlab, Java etc)
  • Minimum 2.1 (or equivalent) undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other STEM related subject.
  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment, e.g. common command line tools, bash scripting etc.
  • Experience in production support and troubleshooting/configuring Linux systems.
  • Good knowledge of network protocols/concepts.
  • Experience in application and system monitoring, e.g. Graylog, Elasticsearch, Grafana etc.
  • Jira or other ticket management software.
