Join the Mako Windows Infrastructure team which is responsible for building and operating the complex technology foundation upon which the firm’s operations are built.

The Windows Infrastructure Engineer role will involve engineering project work and operational support to increase the overall supportability, reliability, and security of the firm's corporate technology estate. The role will primarily focus on Windows Desktop and Server deployment, auditing and patching pipelines, building automation and orchestration tooling, virtualization, Active Directory and M365 management; but there will also be significant opportunities to learn about all aspects of Mako’s technology footprint and to grow your skills and knowledge in both breadth and depth.

What you’ll be involved in:

• Design, delivery, ownership, and management of the Windows server and desktop estate and all corporate applications
• Ongoing development of the Windows operating system build pipelines
• Managing our Azure/M365 tenant
• Identifying opportunities for automation to increase operational efficiency
• Pro-active monitoring and capacity planning
• Supporting 3^rd party trading software
• Identifying opportunities to migrate to cloud or SaaS based services
• Proactively troubleshooting complex issues, championing innovative solutions, and seeking improvements

What we need from you:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A passion for automating processes and using an infrastructure-as-code mind-set.
• An open-minded and innovative approach and a desire to take initiative.
• 4+ years’ experience in a Windows system administration and automation role supporting a high availability enterprise environment.
• Significant knowledge and experience of migrating to and managing Azure and M365
• Extensive experience of virtualization, Active Directory, DFS, GPO, WDS, and WSUS
• Solid scripting skills, especially PowerShell
• Good working knowledge of networking and cyber security concepts & technologies
• Any experience of Atlassian JIRA & Confluence, Nutanix and trading environments is desirable.
