Abebe Shibru

Abebe serves as Country Director at our Marie Stopes Ethiopia programme. Before that, he served several years as Country Director of our Zimbabwe programme, Population Services Zimbabwe. He has over 20 years of experience in community development and public healthcare programmes, including maternal and child health, family planning and reproductive health, malaria prevention, and HIV/AIDS programming.

His impressive career includes positions in US Peace Corps Ethiopia Office as Deputy Country Director, Action Aid Ethiopia as Programme Officer for community-based healthcare, and the Catholic Church Health Care Programme.

Abebe joined MSI Reproductive Choices in 2010, originally serving in our Ethiopia programme as Director of Communications, External Relations and Research, and Director of Programmes. He holds an MPH, an MBA in Health Care Management, a BSc, and an Advanced Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing.
