We are looking for a Technician/Mechanic to join our team!
Responsibilities
The Diesel Technician/Mechanic is responsible for maintaining diesel and gas equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle & equipment deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. In addition to the referenced requirements the employee will also be responsible, but not limited to the items below:
Ensure all safety standards are upheld. PPE is worn at all times when you are outside of your truck
Participate in all of shop’s weekly safety meetings
Determines vehicle & equipment conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
Corrects vehicle & equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Verifies vehicle & equipment performances by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle & equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintains vehicle & equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Maintain upkeep on shop/working area to comply with Martin’s image standards daily.
If a company truck is driven a pre-trip and post trip inspection must be logged.
This position reports directly to the Shop Manager with a dotted line of responsibility to the General Superintendent.
Minimum Requirements
Extensive Knowledge of mechanics on diesel equipment and vehicles
Ability to pass pre-hire and random drug screenings
High school diploma or general educational degree (GED)
Valid state driver’s license with no serious traffic offenses within the last 3 years
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, road signs, and operating and maintenance instructions
Ability to occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
