Lei Chen

Lei Chen is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell since January 2021. Prior to this role, Lei held positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School from February 2021 to August 2022, and as a Research Investigator and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan from May 2017 to January 2021. Earlier in career development, Lei completed an Engineering Internship in Manufacturing Technology at The Timken Company in 2015, focusing on investigating machined surface temperature in hard turning. Lei's professional experience also includes a summer internship at Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in 2011. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a BEng in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering from Zhejiang University.
