Tom Nelson

Tom Nelson has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Tom currently works at Matillion as a Senior Frontend Software Engineer, a position they have held since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked at AMPLYFI from April 2018 to June 2021, where they held the roles of Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer. During their time at AMPLYFI, Tom played a key role in developing software to visualize machine learning outputs, mentored junior developers, implemented testing with jest, and built a reusable component library.

From August 2016 to April 2018, Tom worked at Creditsafe as an Internal Applications Developer. In this role, they focused on UI redesign and general maintenance of AngularJS portfolio management software, created an automated continuous integration pipeline, and educated team members on git.

Tom also had a brief stint as a Junior Software Engineer at lowcosttravelgroup from January 2016 to July 2016.

In addition to their software engineering roles, Tom has worked as a Mathematics Personal Tutor from July 2014 to November 2015, tutoring students in Key Stage Two and Key Stage Three and developing personalized learning strategies for each student.

Prior to their career in software engineering, Tom completed a 6-week intensive Coding Bootcamp at Acorn Recruitment Ltd, where they gained skills in web development with a focus on .NET technologies.

Tom Nelson attended the University of Bristol from 2011 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics.
