Peter Buxton

Ethics Lead at Mattereum

Peter Buxton has an extensive work experience spanning from 1990 to 2022. From 1990 to 1998, they worked for the UK Ministry of Defence as the Defence Consultant Adviser in Radiology and Telemedicine, where they were responsible for the delivery of radiological services at all UK military locations throughout the world. From 1998 to 1999, they worked for Strong Angel as Directing Staff, where they were the sole UK military representative on international disaster response demonstrations and developed pocket telemedicine systems and TOOZL (The One Ounce Laptop). From 1999 to 2005, they worked for the Royal Navy as a Consultant Radiologist, specializing in interventional vascular radiology, computed tomography and MRI. From 2005 to 2010, they worked for Joint Forces Command as Commander Defence Medical Group and Chief of Staff. From 2010 to 2014, they worked for the Royal Navy again as the Head of Royal Naval Medical Service and Medical Director General (Navy). From 2016 to 2022, they worked for Peter Buxton Photography as Business Owner, and is currently working for Mattereum as Ethics Lead.

Peter Buxton began their educational journey at Westcliff High School for Boys, where they attended from 1971 to 1978. Peter then went on to the University of Oxford, where they obtained an MA (Oxon) BM BCh in Medicine between 1978 and 1984. After a break, Peter resumed their studies at the University of Leicester, where they obtained an MA in Archaeology between 2004 and 2007. In 2009, they obtained an MA in International Relations from King's College London.
