Miyou Shimoshige

Social Media VP at McMaster University

Miyou Shimoshige has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. In 2017, they started their career as a waitress and kitchen staff at Hitoe Sushi Japanese Restaurant. Miyou then worked as a Summer at Saints Recreational Staff Leader at St. George's School from 2017 to 2019. In 2018, they took on roles as a Games Attendant and later as a Bubble Tea Cashier/Shaker at Wun2Free Entertainment until 2022.

Simultaneously, from 2019 to 2021, Miyou served as the Social Media VP at McMaster University and also played for the Ultimate Frisbee team. In 2020, they became the Director of Operations at Bridgespace until 2021.

In 2021, Miyou joined Kyungpook National University as a Research Assistant for a brief period. Miyou then worked as a Clinical Research Assistant at BC Children's Hospital from 2022 to 2022, where they analyzed patient data, created databases, engaged with patients and families, and conducted literature analysis.

In 2022, they also became an Academic Tutor at Quantum Academy. Additionally, Miyou held the position of Games Attendant Supervisor at Wun2Free Entertainment from 2023 onwards.

Miyou Shimoshige has a Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc) degree in Biology & Pharmacology from McMaster University, obtained from 2021 to 2024. Prior to that, from 2019 to 2021, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Life Science, also from McMaster University. Their secondary education was completed at Little Flower Academy from 2014 to 2019. In addition to their academic qualifications, Miyou has obtained several certifications, including "San'yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety Training" from the Provincial Health Services Authority, "Clinical Research Coordinator Certification (CRC)," "Good Clinical Practice (GCP)," and "Transportation of Dangerous Goods TDG/IATA" from the CITI Program. They have also obtained "Standard First Aid, CPR and AED" certification from the Canadian Red Cross.
