Jeff Smithberger

Jeff Smithberger, P.G., currently serves as the Director of Solid Waste for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, where responsibilities include managing a Material Recovery Facility processing 400 tons per day. Prior experience includes Chief of Solid Waste Management for Harford County Government, overseeing multiple solid waste infrastructures, and a long tenure at Fairfax County Government, where Jeff managed Virginia's largest municipal solid waste management program. Additionally, experience on the International Board of the Solid Waste Association of North America involved guiding technical policies and governance. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, MBA coursework, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, all from Virginia Tech.
