Matteo Castagna has over 30 years of experience in the finance industry. Matteo has held various leadership positions, including Head of Investment Analytics & Reporting at Mediolanum Irish Operations and Head of Portfolio Analytics - Multi-Assets at Fidelity International. Matteo also served as the Principal - Head of Market Risk and Performance at Old Mutual Global Investors. Prior to these roles, Matteo worked at Proxima Alfa Investment (BBVA group), Vega Asset Management, Zaragozano Gestion, Banco Zaragozano, Banesto, Bankers Trust Intl., and Banca Euromobiliare in different capacities, gaining experience in risk management, middle office operations, fund management, capital markets, and proprietary trading. Matteo is skilled in portfolio analysis, risk measurement, and asset valuation.
Matteo Castagna began their education at Liceo Classico, "A.Racchetti" in Crema, Italy from 1978 to 1983, where they studied Classical Greek/Latin Languages and Literature. Following this, they attended Università Bocconi from 1983 to 1989, focusing on Economics and earning a D.E.S degree.
In 2012 and 2013, they pursued online courses, or MOOCs, in various subjects. Matteo completed a course in Introduction to Computational Finance and Financial Econometrics at the University of Washington, taught by Prof. E.Zivot, and a course in Financial Engineering and Risk Management at Columbia University. In addition, they took a course in Introduction to Data Science at the University of Washington, instructed by Prof. Bill Howe, and two courses related to data analysis offered by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; Data Analysis taught by Prof. Jeff Leek and Computing for Data Analysis taught by Prof. Roger Peng.
Furthering their knowledge in finance, Matteo completed a MOOC on Financial markets offered by Yale University, taught by Prof. Robert J. Shiller. Matteo also took a course on The modern world: global history since 1760 at the University of Virginia, taught by Prof. Philip Zelikow.
Matteo Castagna obtained additional certifications in various subjects. Matteo earned a distinction in the Principles of Computing (Part 2) course offered by Rice University, instructed by Prof. Scott Rixner, Prof. Joe Warren, and Prof. Luay Nakhleh in August 2015. Matteo also received a distinction in the Principles of Computing (Part 1) course from Rice University, taught by the same instructors, in July 2015. In December 2014, Matteo achieved a score of 90.3% in the Calculus: Single Variable course at the University of Pennsylvania, taught by Prof. R.Ghrist. Matteo also earned a distinction in the Model Thinking course at the University of Michigan, instructed by Prof. Scott E. Page, in December 2014 with a score of 95.2%.
