Pharmacy Informatics and Insights Expert, Lead of MEDIscoveries program at Medisafe

Maria Ben-Assa has a long and varied work experience. In 2003, they began as the Chief of Medical Supply Stockpile Section at the Medical Supply and Services Headquarters. Maria then moved to the Regional Military Medical Center as the Head of Regional Pharmacy in 2005. In 2006, they were the Head of Medical Equipment and Casualty Supply Department at the Pharmacy and Medical Equipment Branch, Surgeon General Headquarters. In 2009, they were the Chief of Operations and Process Improvement at the Medical Supply and Services Headqurters. From 2011 to 2016, they were the Head of Central Pharmacy Services at the Israel Defense Forces Medical Corps Medical Center. During this time, they were also a Research Associate at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs, managing the Microbe Project. In 2016, they were the Process Improvement and Data Analysis at the Central Pharmacy Services at Brigham and Women's Hospital. From 2017 to 2019, they were the Pharmacy Informatics and Insights Expert, Lead of MEDIscoveries program at Medisafe™ Medication Management Platform. Since 2019, they have been the Head Of Innovation, Medical Technology, Information and Research Directorate and the Director of the HealthHub at the Ministry of Health Israel.

Maria Ben-Assa completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2003. Maria then went on to obtain a Master in Health Administration from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2011. Finally, in 2016, they earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard Kennedy School.
