Phillip (PJ) Azcuna

Phillip (PJ) Azcuna has over 12 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Manufacturing. Phillip (PJ) began their career in 2009 as a Manufacturing Technician at AcroMetrix. In 2010, they worked as a QC DNA Lab Technician at Bayer, where they were qualified to run Gel Electrophoresis, Western Blot, and Silver Stain. Phillip (PJ) then moved to BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. in 2010 as a QA Specialist, where they performed final review of commercial and clinical batch records. After that, they worked at Novartis as a QA Change Control Coordinator from 2011-2012. In 2012, they joined Bayer again as a QA Specialist, where they provided line clearance for GMP activities and monitored for compliance of all in-process activities during processing. In 2013, they worked at Pacira BioSciences, Inc. as a QA Associate II/Sr. QA Associate, where they provided triage for evaluation by QA management and assisted in closure. In 2015, they joined Genentech as a Senior Technical Manager, where they drove CMO deviations, investigations, change controls, CAPAs, audit responses, and complaints to closure. After that, they moved to Theravance Biopharma US, Inc. in 2016 as a Senior QA Manager, where they released finished drug products GMP manufactured for research, clinical, or commercial use in US, EU, and ROW territories. In 2019, they joined Gilead Sciences / Forty Seven Inc. as an Associate Director QA. Currently, they are working as the Director, Quality at Meissa Vaccines, where they develop QA function and actively manages GMP oversight of vaccine products produced at contract manufacturing sites.

Phillip (PJ) Azcuna has an extensive educational background. Phillip (PJ) began their studies in 2007 at the University of California, Los Angeles, where they earned a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics with a focus in Biology and Chemistry. Phillip (PJ) then attended Napa Valley College to study Viticulture and Enology. Most recently, in 2019, they enrolled in Villanova University to pursue a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Analytics, Marketing, and Strategic Management.
