Sophie Redfern

Sophie Redfern has a diverse work experience in the fashion industry. Sophie is currently working as a Senior Knitwear Designer at ME+EM Ltd. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Knitwear Designer at Karen Millen for a period of seven years.

Sophie also worked at SP Diffusion as a Knitwear Designer, where they managed accounts, developed trend and color stories, designed for the in-house range, and handled various design responsibilities such as prints, embellishments, and artwork creation. Sophie was with SP Diffusion from August 2012 to June 2016.

Before that, Sophie worked at Fat Face as an Assistant Designer for a brief period, where they created technical drawings, developed factory spec packs, researched trends, and assisted with garment design and graphics.

Sophie also gained freelance experience working as a designer for projects commissioned by Woolmark and assisted in the design and construction of the Woolmark 'Campaign for Wool' Installation at Harvey Nichols.

Additionally, Sophie worked as an Assistant Designer at Unto Etienne, a luxury ready-to-wear womenswear label. Sophie'sresponsibilities included designing knitwear and woven garments, visiting factories, sourcing materials, and producing patterns and samples.

Sophie started their career as a design intern at Donna Karan, where they developed knit samples and assisted the Womenswear design team during New York Fashion Week.

Prior to their internship, they gained experience as a production assistant at Tim Ryan Knitwear, where they worked on the construction of garments using hand and machine knitting techniques.

Overall, Sophie has a strong background in knitwear design, with experience in various aspects of the design process, including trend forecasting, garment construction, and collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers.

Sophie Redfern pursued their education in the field of Surface Textiles and Fashion Design Technology, earning a Bachelor's degree from the London College of Fashion. Sophie attended the college from 2008 to 2011, focusing on honing their skills and knowledge in this area of study.
